No sooner does one tradeshow end than another starts, but the focus at next week's FMX in Stuttgart is much tighter than NAB's scattergun approach and has a focus on animation, vfx, and immersive media. Matt Gregory gives us his preview.
FMX is one of the the leading events in the world of animation, visual effects, games, and immersive media. All of these disciplines now bleed into the world of video production technology - which is why in 2023 FMX is more on RedShark’s radar than ever. Every year, thousands of students and professionals from these industries gather in Stuttgart, Germany, to showcase their latest projects, share their knowledge, and network with peers. As a result FMX 2023, scheduled to take place from April 25th to April 27th, promises to be an exciting and insightful event for anyone able to make it to Stuggart. We plan on providing an insight for those of you that can’t, so fear not if you can’t make it in person!
One of the main attractions of FMX 2023 is the diverse range of presentations, workshops, and panels that cover a wide range of topics related to animation, visual effects, games, and immersive media. The event organizers have already announced a few of the keynote speakers, and they are all luminaries in their respective fields. For example, DNEG’s Jonny Adamson will discuss what he looks for in new team members as DNEG’s Senior Talent Acquisition Partner, and Victor Perez will talk about how to make a short virtual production in 35 hours using Unreal Engine.
Another highlight of FMX 2023 is of course the Exhibition Floor, where companies and organizations including Adobe, Avid, The Foundry, Autodesk and Unity showcase their latest products, services, and projects. For anyone that missed NAB this will be a great opportunity to see the newest updates in person demo’d by industry experts. This year, ASUS will also be one of the exhibitors, and attendees can expect to see some (very) exciting technology and products from the company (see our NAB coverage here - this will be the first chance Europeans can see their new ProArt Graphics Cards, the ProArt GeForce RTX 4080 and 4070 Ti). ASUS has a long history of innovation in the tech industry, and the company is always at the forefront of the latest trends and advancements. Visitors to its booth can expect to see some of the latest hardware and software products, including laptops, desktops, its amazing displays, and other devices such as ProArt motherboards.
One of the products that ASUS may showcase at FMX 2023 is its ProArt line of laptops and desktops, which are specifically designed for creative professionals. These machines are equipped with powerful processors, high-end graphics cards, and large amounts of RAM, making them ideal for (lots of) rendering, editing, working with game development software like Unreal Engine and other computationally intensive tasks. They also have high-quality ProArt displays that can reproduce accurate HDR colors and sharp 4K images with super fast refresh rates, which is essential for artists and designers.
Another area where ASUS may showcase its technology is in the field of virtual and augmented reality. These technologies are becoming increasingly popular in the entertainment and gaming industries, and ASUS is well-positioned to take advantage of this trend. It has already released several products that are VR and AR-ready, including laptops and desktops with high-end graphics cards, and they are likely to showcase some of these products at FMX 2023. Attendees who are interested in the latest developments in VR and AR should definitely check out the ASUS booth.
Finally, ASUS is hosting a series of Masters talks from the aforementioned Victor Perez, and also animator and creator of “Art Squad” Rafi Nizam, who will show how you can create an animated show in real time with the ProArt displays.
FMX 2023 promises to be an exciting event for attendees (especially new attendees like us), and the RedShark team will do our best to share news from the event for those that can’t make it in person.
