What Blackbird did next: Blackbird says that elevate.io, its new end-to-end video and audio content creation and editing platform, has moved into the early access testing stage.
Cloud-native video editing company Blackbird has always been ahead of the curve when it comes to new tech deployments and a rather bland corporate announcement from late last week hints at some intriguing new things coming from the company at the start of 2024.
“Blackbird announces that its new creator SaaS product, elevate.io, has moved into its early access testing phase,” essentially hides some very interesting news.
elevate.io has been built using Blackbird’s core tech, but while details are scarce, it looks to expand on it quite impressively. It looks to address some of the key pain points facing creators at the moment, including the complexity of tools, cumbersome collaboration with other users, and limited extensibility.
Like Blackbird itself, the new platform will be browser-based. It will enable real-time collaboration between users and also boasts a plug-in architecture that the company is throwing open to third parties (its press release is keen to point to generative AI in there)
It’s being built natively in the public cloud through a partnership with AWS and other cloud service providers. That will enable it to scale its operations at speed if it is a success and should also mean consistent high performance and availability, regardless of location.
And interestingly, elevate.io will initially target both pro teams and creators with different price points ranging from a free entry-level tier to a professional and enterprise tier.
“Mainly due to its complexity, video is one of the last formats to successfully move end-to-end workflows to the cloud,” comments Blackbird plc’s Chief Product Officer, Sumit Rai. “elevate.io aims to bring powerful tools to the web, simplifying and centralizing post-production so that users won’t want or need to go anywhere else.”
