Take an Insta360 Pro 2, mount it on a drone, and send it over an erupting volcano. The results speak from themselves, absolutely stunning.
The footage was taken by Ragnar Th. Sigurðsson, founder of Arctic Images, and drone pilot Arnar Þór Þórsson of Mt. Fagradalsfjall in Iceland as it erupted for the first time in 800 years.
The filmmakers mounted the Insta360 Pro 2 to the underneath of a DJI Matrice 600 to take the 8K footage, which can be viewed below. One of the best ways to watch the footage is with a headset, although the images are not stereoscopic. However at an 4K equivalent resolution the footage is absolutely stunning.
This is the kind of thing 360 video is made for. Although it isn't best suited to narrative shooting, when it comes to natural wonders like this it comes into its own.
