Sony has announced that new firmware for its FX6, FX3 and FX30 cameras will hit its servers later this year.
The ILME-FX6 ver.5.0 firmware update is expected from May 2024 or later and will include -
- The addition of 1.5x setting to the De-squeeze function
- Monitor & Control feature (ex. Waveform, False colour such as FX3/30 already supported)
- A new preset 709tone support to colour match multiple cameras
- The expansion of supported lenses, such as the SEL100400GM & SEL200600G, for breathing compensation
The firmware update for the FX3 and FX30, meanwhile, is expected from September 2024 or later and will include:
- A Shutter Angle option
- 709tone support
- SRT/RTMP/RTMPS support for live-streaming demand
That seems rather a long time to wait. In the meantime, though, anyone near London can see a preview of the VENICE 2 3.0 firmware update at BSC Expo 2024 from February 15-17. The company will also be showcasing the new BVM-HX3110 at the show, a premium professional post-production monitor with a Sony-designed dual-layer anti-reflection LCD.
