We covered the Teradek Serv 4K briefly in our coverage of Frame.io's recently announcement. Here we take a look at what the Serv 4K offers.

The Teradek Serv 4K can be used for 4K streaming as well as for full camera-to-cloud workflows using services such as Frame.io, allowing recordings from the camera to be ready for editing as soon ass the recording is stopped.

The Serv 4K can encode using H.264 or H.265 with 256-bit encryption, in HDR. The files are created with 4:2:2 colour resolution at frame rates of up to 60p. The system has apparently been designed with ease of use in mind, with a simple and intuitive setup interface.

Using the Teradek Vuer app, which runs on iOS, Android, Windows, MacOS and Apple TV, up to 20 devices can stream on a local network. On the other hand, using Teradek Core or platforms like Frame.io, unlimited devices can send imagery to the cloud. There is also redundancy built in, recording footage to an SD card if the internet connection drops for any reason. The footage will then continue to upload once the connection has been re-established.
