Modular LED pixel bar lighting from Aputure with new INFINIBAR

Aputure’s new INFINIBAR RGBWW LED pixel bar is an interesting looking modular system that uses differently shaped connectors to produce different shapes and effects.

The new Aputure INFINIBAR RGBWWW LED pixel bars are definitely interesting bits of kit. Available in one-, two-, or four-foot lengths, they feature 24 RGB light engines per foot, giving what the company says is a pixel density only exceeded by the Aputure MT Pro.

These are Aputure’s first RGBWW full-colour LED pixel bar and the company has gone to town on their spec. They feature a proprietary RGBWW chipset that delivers a wide CCT range of 2000K to 10,000K with full green-magenta adjustment and can reproduce  over 90% of colours within the Rec.2020 Colour Space. They also produce accurate skin tones, measuring scores of CRI: 96+, TLCI: 98+, SSI (D56): 74, and SSI (Tungsten): 85.

It’s when you put them together that they really come into their own though. Aputure has given the lights the unique ability to be linked together using 10 differently-shaped connectors to design creative shapes and effects. Even if you’re just being conservative and linking them a straight line, the pixel bar’s infinite blending design also eliminates visible gaps between fixtures so that they can create seamless pixelated effects along their length.

What’s more, these are also power-sharing connectors, allowing users to operate multiple INFINIBARs using a single power supply if desired (though their internal batteries can also be used for greater versatility). Those built-in batteries allow the lights to operate at anything from 6.5W max output for 120 minutes for the 1ft model up to 27W max output for 80 minutes for the 4ft.

Wireless connectivity means that the INFINIBAR’s pixels can be grouped and controlled via Sidus Link, LumenRadio CRMX, or through wired DMX using Aputure’s USB-C to DMX Adapter. They also incorporate critical colour controls (including advanced HSI with white point adjustability, RGB, and xy) for full creative freedom. Users can toggle between nine built-in System FX and seven built-in Pixel FX (Color Fade, Color Cycle, One Pixel Chase, Two Pixel Chase, Three Pixel Chase, Rainbow, and Pixel Fire), or save up to 20 Custom FX in the Sidus Link app for easy access to different light modes.

Prices are $299 for the 1-foot PB3, $479 for the 2-foot PB6, and $639 for the 4-foot PB12 or equivalent. And there are a whole range of bundle and connector options as well s accessories such as control boxes and soft boxes.
