Formatt Hitech has released its new Cine Superslim affordable, cinema-grade diffusion and clear filters. They are 4x5.65" and are very lightweight, making them ideal for drones and gimbals.
Formatt Hitech's Cine Superslim filters come in Clear Supermist 1/8 and 1/4, and Black Supermist 1/8 and 1/4. It also sounds like there will be more options coming in the future.
The Clear Supermist will cut down on camera sharpness, smooths out bright highlights with a subtle halo effect, and moderates contrast lightening shadow areas. The Black Supermist is more subtle than the Clear, and helps to reduce contrast, soften sharpness, and will cause light sources to halate and bloom.
The affordable Cine Superslim Clear Optical Flat filter is made from Schott B270 super white optical glass, and will work with high resolution cameras. It does a great job protecting the lens, whether it's a camera or drone.
Formatt Hitech's new clear filters are a great complement to the Firecrest IRND filters, and because they're so thin and lightweight, they can be easily paired up. The Cine Superslim are compatible with an ARRI standard mattebox, Bright Tangerine Misfit Atom, Chroziel, Wooden Camera, etc.
Pricing for the new filters:
- The cost of the 4x5.65" Cine Superslim Clear filter is $132 (£98).
- The cost of the 4x5.65" Cine Superslim diffusion Clear Supermist 1/8 and 1/4 is $199 (£148) each.
- The cost of the 4x5.65" Cine Superslim Black Supermist 1/8 and 1/4 is $199 (£148) each.
