DZOFILM expands its Full Frame Catta Ace line up with the new wide angle18-35mm T2.9 cine lens.
DZOFILM’ latest lens to hit the market is the new wide-angle Full Frame Catta Ace 18-35mm T2.9 zoom cine lens. This is the third in the company’s series of Catta Ace FF zooms joining the established Catta Ace 35-80mm and 70-135mm, and is going to have a RRP of $3899 when it ships at the end of January.
Happily, the company has also lowered the price of the other two to $3299, while the price of 3-lens-kit with a hard case is $9599.
So, what do you get? The new lens couples a minimum focusing distance of only 0.51m (1ft 8”) with that 18-35mm focal range. Each lens is composed of four ED (Extra-low Dispersion) lens elements and one aspherical element, which the company says minimizes curvature of field and reduces chromatic aberration at the wide-angle end for optimal color correction and sharpness. A 20-blade iris should create a pleasing bokeh for any background lights.
Breathing control is billed as ‘on par’ with the other two Catta Ace lenses, with negligible change of focal length while racking focus. Like the other two, it’s Full Frame friendly and features an interchangeable PL, EF, and LPL mount.
